Norman White, 86, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016, after a short illness. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Mildred Brumma White, and their children (spouses): Michael (Graciela), Doug (Christine), and Kevin. He is also survived by his sisters: Ruth White and Lois Tucker; his grandchildren: Matthew, Maria Cecilia, Karl and Aleks; and an extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Fannie and Andrew White, and sisters Geraldine and Louise.
The eldest of 5 children, Norman was born in Redbird, KY and in his teens he moved to Cincinnati, OH, where he finished high school and graduated from New York Technical Institute. He served in the US Army and, upon his discharge, he was employed by General Electric and the Environmental Protection Agency. It was his technical position with EPA that brought him and his family to Cary, NC, in 1970.
Norman was at his best working outdoors and fixing things; he loved gardening, camping at the beach, and taking long walks around the neighborhood. He was a one-of-a-kind fellow, wholeheartedly devoted to his family and his home, and will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park in Cary.
