I only met Pat O'Brien once, at the beautiful wedding that he threw for his daughter Sharlene and my nephew Owen Cavanaugh. He was an energetic and fun host who showed a deep love for his daughter and his new son-in-law. I am truly sorry for his untimely loss and send my condolences to Carmen, Sharlene and all of his family.

Dear Carmen & Family,
I am truly sorry to hear of Pat's passing. I had enjoyed working with Pat for seven years. He always had a joke to tell me daily and he was actually funny. Neat as a pin, knew where every piece of paper was and a stickler for being on time. He taught me how to appriciate time and to use it wisley. But most of all he showed me how to appriciate family. One day when I was still fairly new I called him Rich (mistook him for Rich Cohen). I apologized for getting the names mixed up. He reponded by telling me it was ok, he had been called worst names before, he did not mind being called Rich and wish he had the money to go with it. I will really miss him. May God give you all peace through this difficult time.

Dear Carmen and Family - I worked with Pat for about 20 years and he will be greatly missed here at NYU Langone Medical Center. He taught me much and he is one of the foundations that made this medical center truly world class.

His legacy will live for a long time and and his memory a blessing for all.

I'm deeply saddened by Pat’s death. I only knew Pat for a few years I worked with him. I learned so many things from Pat and I'm grateful for it. He was an honest and hard working man in my opinion. My prayers for his departed soul….
