He was born on September 29, 1960 in Newport News, Virginia to Paul Emmitt Nordan, Jr. and Joyce Ann Harper. He spent a majority of his childhood years in Cary, where he was raised by his loving grandmother, Christine Jones Nordan. In 1979, he began what would become a 21-year career serving in the United States Coast Guard, eventually retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 2000. During this time, he met and married his wife, Shelvia Fountain Nordan, and became a father to his daughter, Melissa Nordan Stimach. Following his career in the Coast Guard, he went on to serve another 17 years working for the United States Postal Service, where he retired in 2019.
A good-man, Paul loved and, in return, was loved equally by many for his kindness, genuine disposition, sense of humor, his integrity, and for the selfless way in which he lived his life. He was a great and steadfast friend, and he had a devotion and love for his family that was truly extraordinary. In addition to his unparalleled love for his family and friends, he also had a love for the theatre, movies, music, boating, trips to Universal with his family, helping take care of his granddaughter, loving on his fur-babies and fur-grandbabies, and riding his Harley with his friends and son-in-law by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Shelvia Nordan of Fuquay; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jonathan Stimach of Cary; his granddaughter, Isla Grace Stimach; as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews.
