

Pilar Dexheimer, 79, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side Saturday, August 31st, 2024 in her home. Pilar was born on August 5th, 1945 in Guayaquil, Ecuador to the late Gabriel and Carmen Martinez.
Pilar moved from Ecuador to the US when she was six years old and lived in New York City with her Mother and three siblings. At 31 years old and working as a Manager at a publishing company in Manhattan, she fell in love with Allan Dexheimer, of Ridgefield Park, NJ. They married three months later on December 20th, 1976. After a couple years living in New York City, they settled in Scarsdale, NY in 1978.
After giving birth to her first son, Jay, in 1978, three years later Pilar suffered an aneurysm that left her disabled and unable to walk. Pilar fought hard and persevered for the next 43 years to live and continue being a mother, wife and eventually a grandmother. She had a beautiful smile, a laugh that brought joy to many and an incredibly kind spirit. Pilar enjoyed many hobbies during her life like dancing, playing the piano and listening to music. She loved to be around people and especially loved her family.
Pilar is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Allan H. Dexheimer, son Jay A. Dexheimer and his wife Amy, of Cary, NC; stepson Greg P. Dexheimer and his wife Jennifer, of Hershey, PA; her stepson Jeff A. Dexheimer, of Port St. Lucie, FL; sister Carmen Inman of Pembroke Pines, FL; brother Gabriel Martinez of Guayaquil, Ecuador; brother Francisco Martinez of Guayaquil, Ecuador; eight grandchildren: Jessica, Michael, Erin, Ryan, AJ, Jack, Ben and Ava as well as nephews and nieces, whom she loved dearly.
Pilar’s life will be honored and remembered at visiting hours from 1 to 4pm on Monday, September 9th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary.
