Rachel Giles Davis

Rachel Giles Davis, 90, of Cary, died Sunday, September 8, 2013 at WakeMed Cary Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born in Williamston, SC, to Samuel W. Giles and Sallie Lou Adams Giles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Davis, Jr. (Lt. Col. USAF Ret.), and her siblings, Mary G. Medlock, Earl Giles, Sarah Giles, and Joe Giles.

Mrs. Davis loved her roles of wife and mother, and particularly enjoyed sharing her husband's Air Force career and the world travel it allowed. She was a true lady who was as much at home in their foreign postings as she was in her adopted hometown of Cary. Those who knew her will miss her love of life and infectious laughter.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her son Hal Davis of Raleigh; son Sam Davis and his wife Debbie Davis of Chester, VA; daughter Dawn Heric and her husband Matt Heric of Durham; beloved grandchildren John Heric, Davis Heric, and Lindsay Britt; her much loved great-granddaughter Kennedy Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to the staffs of Comforcare Home Care, Woodland Terrace, Rex Rehabilitation Center of Apex, and WakeMed Cary for their kindness and compassion.

A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
