Ralph Alexander White, Jr., 80, of Raleigh NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 17, 2020. Ralph was born on June 27, 1939 in Catawba County, NC to Ralph A. White, Sr. and Sarah Poovey White.
Ralph graduated from Newton-Conover High School in 1957. He went on to attend the University of North Carolina where he completed his undergraduate degree and his Juris Doctorate.
Upon graduation Ralph went into private law practice in Sanford, NC. It was in Sanford that he met his wife Linda. They were married on February 11, 1966.
Ralph and Linda moved to Raleigh and he went to work for the NC Supreme Court of Appeals as a Clerk of Court. He retired in 2010 and was presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award from Governor Beverly Perdue for his extraordinary service to the state of NC.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and attending sporting events and other activities when his grandchildren were involved. He was an avid UNC fan and loved watching the Heels play football and basketball. He also enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Linda Hart White, his brother Joe White (Dianne), and his children Tracey White Asbill (Brian) and Jill White Pate (Mister). He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Matthew Asbill and Katelyn Asbill, his step-grandchildren Sir Pate, Cheyenne Pate, and Destiny Pate, and step great- grandchildren Elizabeth Pate and Wyatt Odom. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ralph and Sarah White.
Ralph will be buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh at a private graveside service on June 22, 2020.
