

He was born on May 3, 1934 in Westport, CT to John and Arline Marks. Richard retired as a Quality Engineer from Hughes Electronics (Perkin Elmer) in 2007, after 37 years of service. His proudest career accomplishment was his work on the Hubble Space Telescope. Richard was also a Mason with the St. James Masonic Lodge of Hampton, NH.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Joyce M. Marks(deceased), for 35 years.
He is survived by his son, Melvin E. Benn and wife Lorraine of Hancock, ME; daughters, Laurie B. Feranec and husband, Michael of New Hill, NC and Brenda J. Marshall and husband, Denis of Loveland, CO; grandchildren Alyssa F. Newell and husband Christopher of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Andrew M. Feranec and fiancé Leigh W. Cox, of Raleigh, NC; Casey Benn and great grandchildren Cole, Cooper, Cohen and Cruz of Hancock, ME; Christa Benn and great grandchild Benjamin of Hancock, ME; his nieces, Barbara Marks of Stony Creek, CT, and Margaret (Peggy) Marks of Greenville, SC, and nephew Jeffrey Marks of Portland, OR.
In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother Robert Marks and sister-in-law, Adrienne.
A private Memorial Service will be held.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice, Avendelle and Waltonwood Assisted Living for the loving care and support given to Richard and family.
