Rickey Gene Watkins

Rickey was married to his wife Karen for 36 years. Together they have a life that knows 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and has been filled with God’s grace and loving memories. Rickey leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karen; son, Rickie Watkins Jr. and wife, Krisie and their children, Austin, Dylan and Jackson; son, Brandon Watkins and wife, Julie and their children, Ezra and Ava; son, Jason Gore and wife, Diana and their children, Addy, Aidan and Connor; son, Robert Council and wife, Kelly and their children, Matthew, Jessica and Megan; sisters, Peggy Scollon and husband, Clarence, Joyce Taylor and husband, Howard, Pat Ferrell and husband, Earl, and Joann Watkins; mother-in-law, Edna Sue Rhodes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rickey was the founding owner of Apex Propane for 17 years. He worked in the propane gas industry his entire professional career with 17 years going to Gardner Marsh Gas Equipment prior to Apex Propane.

Rickey, if he could, would spend all day, everyday with his sons, riding Harleys, giving too many gummies to his grandkids, and being with his beloved dogs.

The family will receive friends starting at 1:00pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Hope Community Church, 821 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh, NC 27606. A service will immediately follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
