
Robert “Bob” A. Vaughn, 82, of Cary passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease. Bob worked for IBM as an Executive Director of Technology before taking an early retirement and moving to Raleigh with his wife to be near family. He was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Cary, where he served as a deacon and was involved in many things such as building projects.
Family meant the world to Bob, and he was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved to visit the beach, go to the mountains, and enjoyed skiing, golfing and staying active. Bob also liked doing things with his hands, and could fix almost anything. His family remembers him as having a tough exterior, but also a kind and soft heart.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Vaughn; children, Linda Knickerbocker, Kathleen Waked (Robert), Kenneth Vaughn, Kelley Mims, Jana Collins, Cheryl Mize (Charles), and Craig Hughes (Doris). twenty one grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Johnson (Glen) and Joyce Kelley (Russell). Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Vaughn; two brothers; and four sisters.
