Robert "Bob" William Via

October 11, 1948 – February 19, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Via who left us peacefully on February 19, 2026 at the age of 77.

Born in Eden, NC to Bertha and Allan Via, Bob lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and devotion to family, friends and community. From an early age, he showed a remarkable spirit curious, compassionate, and determined that would shape a life filled with meaningful relationships and lasting contributions.

Bob graduated from NC State and went on to build a fulfilling career as an Electrical Engineer with Duke Power for 30 years. Through dedication and hard work, he earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Yet beyond professional accomplishments, it was his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering support for loved ones that truly defined him.

He was a devoted spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, and friend. Bob treasured time spent with family whether gathered around the dinner table, sitting on the pier or in his pontoon boat, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying quiet moments together. He had a passion for golf, travel, and PENC/NC Society of Engineers. His overall happy place was Lake Gaston where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Bob is survived by his wife Ann, children; Lane Via of Durham, NC, and daughter Tracie Via of Newport, NC; his grandchildren; sister Betty Garland (Franklin), of Hillsborough, NC and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Bertha Via.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on February 25, 2026 at Brown Wynne in Cary, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Triangle YMCA, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, SPCA Wake County or any charity of your choice.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories shared and the love that remains. Bob’s legacy of warmth and strength will continue to guide and inspire all who knew and loved him.
