

Roberta was born in New Hampshire and moved to North Carolina in 1958. She worked for JC Penney and then for many years as a purchasing assistant for Aeroglide Corporation before her retirement. She was a member of White Plains United Methodist Church. She volunteered her time in many ways, such as the Pilot Club of Cary, the USO at RDU airport, the food pantry at her church, band boosters when her daughter was in school, but most of all, Habitat for Humanity. With her husband, she traveled a lot to be involved in “Blitz Builds” with Habitat for Humanity all around the country, including South Dakota, Texas, Alabama and Wake County to name a few. In her leisure time, Roberta enjoyed baking cookies, scrapbooking, making her own greeting cards, and traveling with her husband and daughter and friends.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Sanford-Moore (Rodney Moore); nieces and nephews, Caroline Megan (Peter), Neal Sanford (Debbie), Mark Sanford, Paul Sanford (Jamie), Doug Simpson, and Corey Simpson (Freda); many great nieces and nephews; and a cousin, LtC (retired) David Reed.
A service to celebrate Roberta’s life will be held on October 7th at 1:00 P.M. at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC. A reception at the church will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to White Plains United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, and Transitions LifeCare
