On February 11, 2014, Rosemarie Margaret (Heinlein) Soltis, 84, after a long illness, passed away at her home in Cary, North Carolina. She was the wife of the late James John Soltis, daughter of the late Carl W. Heinlein and late Matilda (Freismuth) Heinlein, mother of James John (Karen) Soltis, Jr. of Fla., Carlyn “Kate” Kline of PA, the late David Joseph Soltis, Victoria Marie Soltis-Jarrett (David Jarrett) of NC, and Thomas James (Tracy) Soltis of TX. Rosemarie is also survived by two brothers, Carl Heinlein (Karen) and Donald Heinlein (Shirley) also of PA, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosemarie worked at General Electric after graduating from Perry High School on the North Side of Pittsburgh in 1947. She met her husband, James Soltis, while working at GE and married in 1950, going on to be a stay-at-home mom to her five children. She loved to bowl with her girlfriends, and was active in her church, St. John Newman, until moving to NC in 2008 to be near her daughter, Victoria, with whom she was very close. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral mass and memorial will be on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10AM at St John Neumann Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, PA, due to weather issues and the fact that she lived in NC. She will then be buried in PA with her late husband, James, and her son, David at North Side Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wake County Hospice, Raleigh, NC or Masses at St John Neumann Church in Pittsburgh, PA.
