

Mr. Helgans was the son of Edward F. Helgans and the late Lillian C. Helgans of Sarasota, FL and formerly of Scarsdale, NY.
Mr. Helgans was a Managing Director and Co-Founder at Fennley, a digital and social marketing solutions company. He received a BA in Marketing from Lehigh University in 1980 and an MBA in Finance from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business in 1987. He started his career in account management at New York Telephone, now Verizon.
A loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, Mr. Helgans cherished time with his family and friends, along with his dogs.
Mr. Helgans was an accomplished athlete, excelling in Lacrosse at both the High School and Collegiate levels. In 1978 Mr. Helgans scored 58 goals in 12 games for Lehigh Lacrosse, an average of 4.83 goals per game for the season. This NCAA Division 1 record stands to this day. He was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity at Lehigh, and served as the fraternity’s President. Mr. Helgans was also an accomplished musician, collector of guitars and passionate fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets and the Grateful Dead.
Mr. Helgans will be remembered for his humor, intellect, strength of character and loyalty to his family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Helgans is survived by his wife, Nina Finnegan Helgans, whom he adored. He is also survived by his father, three brothers, Edward Helgans of North Haven, CT, David Helgans of Darien, CT, and Craig Helgans of Fairfield, CT and 21 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary NC on Friday, February 12th from 4-6pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Road, Apex NC Saturday, February 13th at 1:45pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) for Parkinson’s Research or Pet Pal Animal Shelter, St. Petersburg, FL.
