Scott Edward Hertenstein entered into his eternal rest Wednesday evening, January 1, 2025 at Wake Med Hospital Cary. Scott was born March 13, 1939 to the late Lois Irene (Scott) Hertenstein and George Albert Hertenstein in Joliet, Illinois.
Scott is survived by his wife, Carolynne; sons, Scott Jr. and William; and his sister, Mary. Also by two brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws; many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nephews.
Scott served in the Air force where he taught electronics. Then joined I.B.M. where he worked for 28 years as a programmer. Upon retiring, he learned to fly stunt kites. He loved flying and met many wonderful fliers.
A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held June 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
