Sharon Edmondson, a devoted nurse and faithful friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life rich in compassion, adventure, and love.
Born to Marguerite Copeland Gillion and Joseph Horace Gillion, Sharon grew up in a family that moved often, but her heart always found its home during the summers she spent with her beloved grandparents in Brantley, Alabama. Her grandmother, Ethel Sorrells, played a deeply formative role in her life, grounding her with love and tradition.
Sharon completed her high school years in Enterprise, Alabama, graduating from Enterprise High School before pursuing her calling in healthcare. She went on to attend nursing school in Birmingham, Alabama, where she trained to become a Registered Nurse — a role in which she showed extraordinary strength, skill, and compassion.
Throughout her life, Sharon formed enduring friendships. Her Brantley roots remained strong through her lifelong bond with Shirley Browne (Mark) and Lamar Battle — friends who stood by her throughout her life. She also shared a special connection with a fellow nurse, Linda in Tennessee, who impacted Sharon's life in more ways than one.
Later in life, Sharon settled in Holly Springs, NC, where she built a life with Harry, her partner and steadfast companion. Together, they created a circle of friends, including George, a longtime colleague of Harry’s whose friendship spanned miles and years — from Mexico to California to New York, and places in between. She also shared a special bond with her numerous friends, including Linda, Holly, Velma, and Josh.
Though time and distance pulled some of us apart — as life often does — Sharon remained in our hearts, and we carry with us the stories, laughter, and quiet moments we once shared.
Sharon is also remembered with deep love for her beloved dogs, Abbie Ellen and Callie Anne, whose memories she carried tenderly in her heart every day.
Her life was one of quiet strength, generous love, and deep connections — the kind that stay with us, even when we go our separate ways. May she rest in peace and may those who knew her find comfort in remembering the light she brought into our lives.
