Sharon was born in Elgin, IL in 1947 to Joseph and Arletta Schovain. She attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL before studying and receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Illinois State University in 1969. She began her professional career as an art teacher before moving to NC in 1988 to pursue her lifelong career in Real estate.
Sharon and her business partner, Norman Block started Block and Associates Realty in 1996. Sharon was described by her dear friend Norman; "as a strong, smart, determined business woman who always sought to do things the right way. She was 100% professional, a great leader, innovator, teacher, mentor, problem solver, and colleague." She loved her business and all of her co-workers.
Sharon loved to travel. Sharon had been to all 50 states over the course of her life, and some of them more than once! She was an avid overseas traveler as well, taking her parents and sister on many trips throughout their lives. But most of all, Sharon loved the beach. So much so that in 2009, she purchased a beachfront condo in Indian Beach, NC. She loved her little slice of heaven at the condo. She would spend hours on the balcony watching the waves and the dolphins. She collected more seashells than you can imagine and each one was a piece of art to her.
Sharon will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and most of all for her class and sophistication. From her clothing to her homes, you could always see the "Sharon touch" shine through. We could not have asked for a better Sister, Aunt, or Friend and will miss Sharon every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Sharon was preceded in death by Joseph and Arletta Schovain and is survived by sister, Pamela Jason, nephews Michael Jason and wife Shanna, David Jason and wife Laurie and Richard Jason and wife Wendy. Sharon had three Great Nephews, Tyler DeBriyn and wife Amanda, Tanner Jason and wife Lindsey and Derek Jason. Two Great Nieces, Tiffany Walkup and husband Andrew and Alexandra Jason. Sharon also has 5 Great Great Nephews and Nieces.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2-5pm at 100 Palace Green, Cary, NC 27518. Donations to the SPCA of Wake County would be greatly appreciated. Www.spcawake.org
