
Sheila Grunwald, 96, died Thursday, December 25, 2014. She was born in New York, NY on December 8, 1918. She graduated from Hunter College in NYC and later worked during World War II in the US Census Bureau. After World War II, she was a Veterans Administration Benefits Counselor in Washington, DC. Sheila remained active into her 90s, taking college courses, going to a personal trainer, using a computer for email and projects, was an avid reader, and continued to be a passionate believer in social justice. She was a warm, kind and intelligent woman, with a wonderful smile and a terrific sense of humor.
She is survived by sons, Peter Grunwald and wife, Heidi, of Bethesda, MD, Kenneth Grunwald and wife, Susan, of Apex, NC, Timothy Grunwald and wife, Robin, of Silver Spring, MD, honorary 4rth son Gabriel Goldberg and wife, Kimberly, of Falls Church, VA; niece Gale Grunwald of Atlanta, GA, nephews Edward Grunwald of Atlanta, GA, Carey Grunwald of Washington, DC; grandchildren Andrew Grunwald of Silver Spring, MD, Allison Grunwald of Mechanicsburg, PA, Joseph Grunwald of Bethesda, MD, Brian Habermaas and wife Jamie of Centralia, IL, and Christine Dahlin and husband Gregory of Raleigh, NC; and great grandchildren Zachary, Brennon, Grayson, Noah, and Grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Grunwald.
