Shirley Watkins Trexler passed away February 16, 2016. A Raleigh native, Shirley was born July 22, 1950 to the late Gilbert and Irene Vaughn Watkins. A devoted wife and Christian, she spent her life dedicated to helping others as a nurse and as an adult care giver. Upon graduating high school, she began working as a nurse and eventually finished her nursing degree at the University of Utah after marrying her husband of forty- two years, Bryson Douglas Trexler, Jr.
Shirley is survived by her husband Bryson Jr.; her daughter Elizabeth and her grandbeagles Othello and Desdemona; her son Bryson III and his wife Sandi, and their cat Chunky Buns.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cary. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. A graveside committal will follow at Wake Memorial Park of Cary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church Cary.
