Steven Vincent Coyle, 45, passed away at his Cary, NC home on Monday, April 22, 2024. Steve was the son of William and Patricia Coyle, and brother of Kevin Coyle, all of Cary. He was born on July 10, 1978 in Poughkeepsie, NY and moved with his family to North Carolina in 1987.
Steve worked as an auto mechanic for a few years, while developing his computer skills which led to a career in video game development. He worked with his brother Kevin at Icarus Studios and Red Storm Entertainment. Most recently he had landed his dream job as a technical artist at Humanoid Origin, a Canadian game studio, working remotely from his home in Cary.
Steve had a passion for designing adventure games, and was working on his own project, a game called Provenance Room 226. He also created and sold art assets for other game developers to use in their projects.
Steve loved music and played the guitar in several punk rock and rockabilly bands over the years. He was a fan of a variety of artists, from Elvis and the Beatles to Social Distortion.
Steve had a great sense of humor, and loved puns, “Dad” jokes, and inside jokes with his brother. He was also a fan of Star Trek and other science fiction. Steve had many friends and was always ready to help out when needed.
Steve was married to Amanda Hulon from 2004 to 2014. Their two children, Evelyn, 17 and Gavin, 15 now live in Littleton, CO with their mother.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Please come as you are as this will be a very informal.
