Steven was born September 29, 1954, the year of the Chevrolet Bel-Air, in Nashville, TN, to Seldon & Leah Morris.
He grew up in West TN where he enjoyed “engineering” from a young age, when at 5 years old, he took apart and reassembled his grandmother’s broken blender. “Grandmother” was shocked & very appreciative. He was named after his “Granddaddy” (Aubrey), who could figure out any problem and always read the instructions last. Steve enjoyed working on his family’s farm and visiting with his grandparents.
Steve attended the University of Tennessee, where he graduated with his degree in mechanical engineering, and despite his high intelligence, he remained a Vols fan for life.
After graduating from UT, Steve married and was blessed to have a wonderful daughter, Rachel Elaine Morris Fritts of Lenoir City, TN.
Steve worked at a variety of high-skill level mechanical engineering positions, which eventually brought him out of the “country woods” of western TN and into the “metropolis” of Corbin, KY, where he met his true love, Lynn soon to be Morris.
Steve & Lynn wed in 1994 in Hawaii and began jetsetting their way around the globe having adventures in Australia, Peru, Israel, Egypt, France, England, and many other countries, and various cities throughout the U.S. Steve and Lynn eventually settled in Cary, NC, in a home Steve adored & meticulously maintained.
Steve eventually moved into a career he loved in biomedical engineering with Teleflex Medical. Steve received several patents in his years of biomedical work, creating surgical tools currently being used in surgery rooms all over the world this very day, to save other’s lives.
Steve loved his dogs, Seiko & Jett; continued global travels; perfecting his 1969 Mach 1 candy apple red Mustang; biking; the beach; memorizing details of modes of transportation; sports shooting; science fiction; church; history books; hiking, and mostly, Lynn’s cooking.
Steve had recently began pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot and was taking flying lessons while studying for his pilot’s license.
Steve was 65 years thriving, and as of this day in his 26th year of treasured marriage with the love of his life, when he suddenly and tragically passed from here and into something better. Steve leaves behind to miss him his beloved wife Lynn; his warm-spirited daughter and her husband Rachel and Eric Fritts; his admiring sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Joe King; his rambunctious grandchildren Kinsley and Ryland Edwards, children of Danyelle and Eric Edwards; his already adored soon-to-arrive grandson, Cole, son of Rachel and Eric Fritts; and many other family members, friends, and friends who were like family members. He will be dearly and daily missed.
