Heaven gained another angel on January 27, 2025, as Sue B. Green passed away at the Transition LifeCare Center in Raleigh, surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous six-year battle with cancer, Sue leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength. Her mantra, “Faith over Fear,” guided her through every challenge.
Sue was born in Johnson County to Jasper M. Brinkley and Juanita Thompson Brinkley and was the 9th of 10 children. She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 33 years, Gary Green, and their cherished children and grandchildren: Joey, Mandy, Jamison, and Emmett Harward; Dawn and Mila Edwards; Matthew and Macie Edwards; Heather, Jim, Maggie, and Gavin Rand. One of Sue’s greatest joys was being called “Gammie” or “Mee-maw.” She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family—all of whom she spoiled and made feel like they were her favorite!
Sue worked for 21 years at Cooper Tools, Lufkin Division, in customer service before leaving to follow a dream, devoting her time, energy, and talents as a Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant at Weatherstone Elementary for 15 years.
Beyond her work and love for others, Sue had many special gifts. She was an amazing artist and an avid crafter, gardener, and golfer, sharing her creative talents with everyone around her. Sue and Gary loved flowers, working in the yard together, and traveling—enjoying memorable trips to Aruba, Hawaii, Alaska, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and more.
Sue’s life was a testament to living fully—with love, joy, and faith. There was nothing she wouldn’t try, and she both worked and played hard.
Sue leaves behind a village of family and friends who will forever remember her and her unconditional love, hope, and encouragement.
{...."I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV...}
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of Sue’s Medical team, Hospice care and the concientious and caring team at Transitions LifeCare, Raleigh.
A Celebration of life will be held at Brown Wynne of Cary on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with a Receiving and Reception with the family to follow from 2-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
