Although I went to the same high school as Susan, I didn't know her as a classmate; I was a few years behind her. I did, in a weird way, know her from high school -- she was the sister of the drama/forensics coach, and would often hang around. I remember her as being nice, with a great sense of humor. That has only deepened since we reconnected on Facebook. Her fight was long and brutal, and I can only admire how she stood up to the cancer. My heart goes out to her family in their grief, and I hope in the coming days these tributes will bring them comfort.

I was honored to meet Susan while she tirelessly worked to establish an emergency response team at Quintiles. Her dedication to the health and well being of others was evident in all her daily actions. She has been a friend and excellent example to many of us fortunate to have known her. Tim, and TJ and Amelia bless you for sharing her with us and know that our love and respect for you is deep as well. May she live in our hearts and actions forever.
