Theodore “Ted” Berkley King, 72, of Cary, NC passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Born in Covington, Virginia he was the son of the late Theodore Wiley King and Mary Louise Seay King. Ted was a United States Army veteran. He was drafted after graduating from Cary High School in 1970 at the age of 18. Ted answered the call for his country and served over a year as a combat infantryman in Vietnam. His adulthood began in the jungles there and for the rest of his life he continued to meet life’s challenges the same as he did that one. Head on.
After he proudly served his country, he held various positions at various companies throughout his working career, including Delta Airlines and the USPS. He will be remembered by his family and friends as loving, loyal and the life of the party. He truly never met a stranger. “Who’s your buddy, who’s your friend, who’s your pal?” he often joked. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard Thomas King and niece Stephanie King-Compton.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Sue Carper and husband Charles, Gail Lynn Forbes and husband Sam, brother James Edward King, sister-in-law, Phyllis King (wife of Richard Thomas) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great grandnieces and grandnephews.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 am thru 12:30 pm, Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, at Brown Wynne funeral home in Cary, NC.
