

He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his children, James, Colleen and Thomas Jr., grandchildren Ashlee, Christina and Stephen, and sisters Frances and Merrie along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph L. Gerow, Jr.
Tom embarked on a 25+ year career with the IBM Corporation, starting work for the company in New York and retiring from the company in North Carolina. After an early retirement from IBM, Tom embarked on a second career, working for the State of North Carolina for over ten years before truly retiring. He was a lifelong Lionel train collector and spent his free time traveling with Carol and attending as many NASCAR events as possible.
A memorial service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (200 SE Maynard Road in Cary) on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1-2 pm.
