OBITUARY

Thomas Allen Pedigo

February 2, 1953 – January 22, 2023
Obituary of Thomas Allen Pedigo
IN THE CARE OF

Brown-Wynne Funeral Home

Thomas Allen Pedigo, age 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana died on January 22, 2023 at his home in Cary, North Carolina.

Tom was born on February 2, 1953 and grew up on the south side of Indianapolis. He was an avid cross-country runner in high school as well as college. After graduating from Franklin College with honors, Tom taught in the public school system before pursuing his passion: bicycling! As a biking enthusiast, Tom went on to own and manage numerous bicycle shops across the state of Indiana and participated in many races and tours. He was also an especially gifted builder of bicycles & wheels, skillful bicycle mechanic and mentor to many in these areas (as well as other important things like bluegrass music, floppy hats and beer)!

Tom married Betty Dinius in 2002 and spent many years together in Speedway, Indiana. As a huge Indy car fan, Tom enjoyed going to the Grand Prix and Indy 500 every year while hosting family & friends who came to visit, making the annual pilgrimage together.

In 2011 Tom & Betty began splitting their time between Indiana and North Carolina until moving to Sanford, North Carolina "full-time" in 2018. In retirement, they continued to enjoy camping, traveling, and spending time with family & friends. Music festivals, hiking, kayaking and in perpetual pursuit of the perfect growler of beer, Tom was always up for a good time!

Tom fought a brave fight against glioblastoma for over three years - a show of real strength (and maybe his stubbornness)! Tom is survived by Betty Pedigo (wife), Michelle Hardman (step-daughter), Dave Hardman (son-in-law), Phyllis Paulsen (mother), Ada Pedigo (step-mother) as well as many cherished cousins, family and dear friends. He will be missed greatly by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. How do you sum up such a full life of a wonderful soul in “one” document….you can’t. But with your help, we will remember him and hold him dear always.

More information will be shared soon....there are so many memories pouring in from so many who loved Tom, we encourage you to add yours here.
