Veronica Sherba Samuel, aged 95, of Cary, NC, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Raleigh, NC. Born on April 24, 1930, in Union Town, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Sherba and Ann Panyak Sherba.
Veronica was a talented artist whose work spanned various mediums including paintings, jewelry, and pottery. Her creations were purchased across the United States, including by notable clients such as SAS, and some of her artwork has even graced the White House in Washington, DC.
She studied at the Traphagen School of Design in New York City and dedicated her life to sharing and perfecting her craft, retiring at the age of 94 in 2024. Veronica was not only prolific in her artistic endeavors but also remained very active in the Russian Orthodox Church since its opening in 1994.
Veronica was the beloved widow of David Charles Samuel; a Navy man she affectionately called her "Sailor." The couple was married for over 50 years until passing. She was also preceded in death by her son, Matthew Samuel.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Katie Marie Underwood and her husband, Buckly Ross, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Rachel Ann Lowe and her husband, Ethan Neil, of Angier, NC. Veronica also leaves behind a God-Child, Sharon Ware, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a wide circle of friends.
Veronica's legacy will live on through her art, her family, and all that she touched with her vibrant spirit and enduring faith.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Antiochian Orthodox Church, in Raleigh NC, with the Rev. David Winn officiating.
Burial will follow at Rawls Baptist Church, in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
