Cousin Walt was born about one year later than I. In our early years I didn't like him because he was bigger than I was and could take the ball away from me, etc. As we grew I learned to like him. We went our ways, both in WW II, then many distances apart, I to Texas and then to the West Coast. I never really knew Walt until a couple of family reunions crossed our paths again. I was sorry we hadn't been able to see each other more often, he had raised a fine family and they too were to be proud of. The last we saw of Walt was in 2001 when he and Eldine paid us a visit here in Simi Valley, California. They used our home as a base from which they would visit the various tourist attractions. It was here that I learned more about this cousin of mine, so fun loving, jovial, just a very pleasant person. Carol and I send our deepest condolences to you siblings, children and Marlene. He was a man to remember.

We are sorry to hear of our loss with Walt's passing. Our sympathy to you all. I always appreciated my big brother out ahead of me breaking trail as I was growing up. I guess this means now I am on my own! Bob and Cathie Olds

Kathy, So sorry to hear that your dad passed away. He might be hanging out with a bunch of our old Ranchwood neighbors now! I do remember him with his flat top haircut! Hugs to you and your sibs.

We had the pleasure and honor of knowing Walt as a friend, a pal, a confidant, a photographer, and leaders of the NIEHS Camera Club for over a decade. He served as treasurer. He and I also ran a short run photo enterprise called ROWS Imagery (OW for Walt Olds and RS for Richard Sloane) and shot about 5 weddings together. We also traveled to the Bahamas with Walt and Eldine.
He was a wonderful fun loving man who was a true friend. We imagine he's doing some great image making of the solar system now and savoring a big ice cream sundae as well.
