He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for fifty years. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He was a community leader and the team doctor for numerous high school athletic teams.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy, and his wife, Jane. He is survived by his three sons: Bill Bland, of Mebane, NC; Frank Bland, of Fleetwood, NC; and Bob Bland of Cary.
A memorial service will be held at the Glenaire Retirement Community auditorium on July 19th, 2016, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
