William (Bill) E McMullin, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Cary, NC (formerly of Fayetteville, NC) on December 30, 2012. He was born in Bozeman, Montana, and lived his early years between Bozeman and Spokane, Washington. After a brief stent in the Coast Guard, he worked in a Spokane bakery while obtaining his BA and MA in psychology. He then completed his PhD in Psychology at Washington State University, where he met and married his wife of 40 years, Marcia Harrison McMullin. After a post-doctoral position at University of Mississippi, he took a position as psychology professor at Fayetteville State University. During his tenure at FSU, he was instrumental in developing the Department of Psychology from a one-man department to its current status; setting-up and running the first student computer labs at the university, and writing and administering numerous grants. He held several positions including associate professor, department chair, assistant to the dean, and director of institutional research. He believed in furthering the education of all students to such an extent that he created a renewable scholarship in his name for psychology students of need.
