William James Palmer of Cary, North Carolina died on September 24, 2019 at Searstone Retirement Community. He was born on August 19, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Thomas Chester Palmer and Laura Palmer McAffee into a family of five children. After graduating from Schenley High School, he attended the University of Pittsburgh before joining the US Army and proudly serving our country stateside during the Korean War.
During his career, he worked as the Data Processing Manager for a large trucking company and as Treasurer for a conference of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theresa, 2 children, Janice Horton (married to Neil Horton) and Scott Palmer (married to Davona Palmer), and 4 grandchildren Matthew Horton, Katie Horton, Sarah Palmer and Rachel Palmer DiMaggio.
His lived a vibrant, selfless 88 years that was dedicated to family, friends and church.
The family will receive friends at Searstone Retirement Community in the Grand Ballroom on September 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm.
