and studied at Norwich University before joining the US Air Force. He was ultimately
assigned to Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn NY, where he met and married Theresa Doherty in
May 1957.
After he completed his military service, the couple moved to Hartford, CT and Arthur began
working at the laboratory at Hartford Electric Light Company.
Ten years later, soon after their daughter’s birth, they moved back to his home state of
Vermont. There, they began a whole new business adventure, opening Arthur's Department
Store, located on historic Route 100 in Morrisville, VT. It was fun, exciting, scary and
challenging. Customers came from all over Vermont, and from as far away as Europe,
South America, and Zimbabwe. Arthur's grew steadily under their guidance and became a
cornerstone of the community. Arthur took immense pride in serving his customers,
building relationships, and running a successful clothing store that reflected his strong
work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
Arthur was a true wanderer at heart. He crossed the country fourteen times on his
motorcycle, loving the open road and the beauty of nature. On one of those many trips,
Arthur discovered the rugged beauty of Arizona. He loved camping beneath the stars and
exploring vast landscapes, seeing all of America's National Parks. With a camera always in
hand, he captured thousands of photos that demonstrate his deep appreciation of the
world around him. Arthur was endlessly proud to be an American. He often said there was
no need to travel abroad when this country held so much splendor to discover.
Eventually, Arthur and Theresa decided to retire and they moved to his beloved Arizona.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife Theresa, his only daughter Adrienne, grandchildren
Patrick and Olivia, and a host of friends. Arthur will be deeply missed and forever
remembered.
Services will be held at a later time in Gilbert, AZ.
