Joanne Elaine Harp, a shining light in the lives of many, departed this world on June 8, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on August 18, 1972, in Dearborn, Michigan, Joanne lived a life brimming with passion, warmth, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Joanne embraced her love for sports with fervor, cheering enthusiastically for her beloved hometown teams, the Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons, and Lions. Her unwavering loyalty to the University of Michigan football was evident, as she donned her Maize and Blue every Fall Saturday with an infectious enthusiasm that would ignite the hearts of those around her.
Beyond the realm of sports, Joanne was a masterful hostess, delighting in the culinary arts and the joy of entertaining. The summer sun in Arizona brought her immense joy, as she enjoyed the refreshing embrace of the pool while welcoming family and friends to her home, ensuring every guest felt cherished and at ease.
A devoted advocate for animals, she extended her compassion to those without a voice, volunteering tirelessly at local pet shelters. Her heart overflowed with kindness, and this generosity of spirit mirrored her love for travel, which began in childhood, accompanied by her mother on endless road trips and international adventures. Each journey added to her collection of cherished memories.
The holidays were particularly special to Joanne, a cherished time spent with her family and her dear “Ladywood girls,” filled with laughter and love. Summer visits to the family cottage in Northern Michigan were a highlight, adding warmth and magic to her life.
Joanne is survived by her devoted spouse, Gerald "JD" Harp, whose love stood unwavering by her side. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her sisters Deborah Klink and Cindy Young, her brother Chris Bolda and stepchildren Garrett Harp and Landon Harp. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Alyssa Harp and Attie Harp, whose lives will forever be enriched by her spirit.
