Judy Karen Davenport, 78, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. Born on June 16, 1947, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, she lived a full life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
On March 3, 1967, Judy married Kenneth James Davenport at Georgia Avenue Baptist Church in Wheaton, Maryland, beginning a partnership that would span 59 years. Together they built a home and raised a family centered on love, faith, and lasting friendships.
Judy's faith was the foundation of her life. Over the years, she was deeply involved in her church communities, participating in Women's Bible Study and serving as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Rosa, California, and later as a Deacon and Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande, Arizona. Through her ministry, she walked alongside others during some of life's most difficult seasons, offering quiet strength, compassion, and prayer.
She had a gift for making a house feel like home. Judy loved to sew, delighted in cooking for the people she loved, and treasured time spent traveling and gathering with friends and family. Her warmth and hospitality drew people in, and she had a way of making everyone around her feel cared for.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Kenneth James Davenport of Eloy, Arizona; her son, Douglas James Davenport (Tara) of Windsor, California; and her daughter, Karen Michele Weaver (Jeremy) of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings: sisters Jerilyn Bennett (John) of North Carolina and Glenda Burton (John) of Maryland, and brothers Billy Dean (Sheila) of Maryland, Harry Dean (Marie) of South Carolina, and Ronald Dean of Virginia.
She was the proud grandmother of seven: Jordan Davenport (Aubrey) of Washington, Austin Carrillo of Pennsylvania, Alyssa Siegman (Isaac) of Pennsylvania, Ashley Barber (Shane) of Pennsylvania, Paige Davenport of California, Darin Weaver (Grace) of North Carolina, and Krista Weaver of North Carolina. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Orbin Dean; her mother, Beulah Dean; and her brother, Bobby Dean (Patty).
Judy's legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, the faith she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and ministry. She will be profoundly missed.
