Kris Jorgensen — known to nearly everyone simply as Papa left us suddenly in his sleep on Saturday, June 13, 2026. His passing was unexpected, but the legacy he leaves behind is anything but. It is loud, warm, handcrafted, and deeply rooted in the people who loved him.
Born on March 17, 1952, in Elma, Washington, to Torvald Jorgensen (deceased) and Bette Stalcup (deceased; later married to Dale Mestl). In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Colleen, and for nearly 55 years they remained side by side — partners, best friends, and the steady center of their family.
Together they raised two daughters, Tori and Kelly who inherited his humor, wit, and fierce devotion. Kris was a proud grandfather to Kylie Swedlund, Jonathan Jorgensen, and Kristopher Stubbert those grandkids were his ultimate pride and purpose — and a great grandfather to Jayden (Kennard). He spoiled them without apology, loved them without limits, and made sure they always knew they were the brightest part of his world.
Kris is also survived by his siblings: Rick Jorgensen, Karen Morrison, and Ty Malarz.
He was happiest at the lake — boating, floating in the water or soaking up the sun with his family. And if he wasn’t on the water, he was probably at the casino with his wife and daughters, laughing and playing the slot machines.
Recently, Kris poured his passion into a new venture: Dusty Ol' Lizard Woodworking, where he handcrafted beautiful boot jacks, jewelry boxes, and other treasures from exotic woods. His pieces weren’t just creations — they were reflections of his patience, skill, and the pride he took in making something that would last.
Kris had a rare gift: he made everyone feel like family. Whether you were related or not, you felt at home around him — and everyone called him Papa and he was respected, admired, and genuinely loved by all who knew him. His sparkly green eyes, full of mischief and warmth, will be missed by so many.
His passing leaves a space that can’t be filled, but his love, his craftsmanship, and his spirit will echo in every story told and every memory shared by the people who were lucky enough to call him theirs.
Kris built a beautiful life. And he built it well. Rest in peace, Papa We love you.
