Lorraine M. Lewis: beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and pillar of the Casa Grande community; passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 22, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona; at the age of 75. Born in Watsonville, California; Lorraine’s life was defined by her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Lorraine was a loving sister to Nancy Hendricks (Mike), Mary Ann Celaya, Paul Delacruz (Mickey), and George Lacaden, whose bonds of family were a source of joy throughout her life. Preceded in death by her older siblings Dorothy Markham and Pete Tegata along with her mother Mary Garcia and Apolonio Delacruz.
In 1968, Lorraine married Guy Leavitt, together they had three children before later parting ways. In 1979, she married Curtis W. Lewis, her devoted husband of 46 years. Lorraine was the proud mother of four children: Jody Leavitt Lopez of Casa Grande; Kim Leavitt Palmieri (Dominic), Christopher Leavitt (Kimberly) of Phoenix; and Kim Padgett (John) of Kennedale, Texas.
She was adored by 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 step-children. All of whom were the center of her heart. On Saturday’s you could find Lorraine on the sidelines watching her grandchildren play sports. She never held back cheering them on!
For nearly five decades, Lorraine devoted herself to nurturing and guiding children as the owner and director of Serendipity Day Care. She touched the lives of countless families in Casa Grande. Serendipity and “her children” were the light of her life. One of her longtime friends and a parent of Serendipity commented that, “If it weren’t for Lorraine, my child and half the children of Casa Grande wouldn’t have been potty trained.”
Her impact extended beyond her professional life: she actively supported Against Abuse for Women, participated in Taste of Casa Grande, bowled with her league team, trained with Golden Girls at OMF, and cherished her Sorority Sisters of Beta Sigma Phi since 1984. Lorraine loved to travel the world with her sisters and mother, as well as her friends.
Lorraine was known for her honesty, friendliness, and vibrant personality. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met, bringing light, laughter, and love into their lives.
Lorraine’s life will be celebrated by family, friends, and community members who will carry on her legacy of compassion, joy, and service. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and inspired.
