Marilyn Faye Akridge, born on September 19, 1946, in George, Iowa, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 78. A resident of Maricopa, Arizona, Marilyn will be remembered for her unwavering support and compassion.
Marilyn had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, cats, and horses. Her caring nature extended beyond her pets, as she was always there for people during their difficult times. Her family and friends could always count on her support and understanding. Her nephew, Chad, cherished their daily phone conversations, which were a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Paul (Robin) VerMeer, and her daughter, Rochelle Folkens. Her beloved grandchildren, Schuyler Folkens and Matthew Folkens who meant everything to her. She also leaves behind her sister, Pamela (Glenn) Kooiker, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E Akridge; her parents, Roy and Alma Johnson; her sister, Shirley Huisman; and her brother, Roy Johnson.
Marilyn's legacy of kindness and support will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be planned for Marilyn in a few months.
