

Robert Lee Colores was transferred to Post Everlasting on March 29, 2025. Bob was born in Casa Grande Hospital behind Little Sombrero (Casa Grande Hospital in 1945).He attended St. Anthony's, CGUHS and attended ASU on two scholarships and was asked not to return after one semester for having too much fun. He eventually snagged a BS in Accounting at California State University Long Beach.
Bob was a Chief Warrant Officer 2 and a Vietnam veteran. He was a gunship pilot in Vietnam for eight months, flying UH-1C Charley Model and AH-G Cobra gunships for Charlie Troop, Third Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry (C/3/17).His last four months in-country he was the Squadron Commander's personal pilot. He was a Cav Pilot and their motto was "if you ain't Cav, you ain't sh**t". He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for Heroism and 22 awards of the Air Medal, one with a V device for Valor. After separating from the Army he flew for the California Army National Guard. He was a Life Member of the Vietnam Helicopters Association and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. He was a member of the Combat Helicopter Pilots Association and American Legion Post 246 in Danville, CA.
In his professional life Bob was in the telecommunications and data industry for 35 years. His titles were: Sales Manager, Branch Manager, General Manager and Region Manager. He sold Electronic Key Systems, PBX's and Voice/Data Systems; Bob retired early. He said he was retired, his wife would say he was unemployed.
Left behind is his wife of 39 years, Joan (Joanie), niece Kelly and husband John Jackson and grand nephews Owen and Finnegan, more nieces and grand nieces Diane Banks, Lynda Banks, Rachel Juarez, and Monica Juarez-Smith and many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Menchaca Colores, his brother Arnold Ramirez, grandparents Francisco and Octavania Menchaca and all his Aunts and Uncles. A special shout-out to Rudy and Elaine Valdez for all their help and care packages.
Bob has gone flying in the heavens, he hopes.
