Jan 31, 1942 - Mar 11, 2026
Susan Gancas, a devoted mother, grandmother, and passionate animal advocate, unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the age of 84.
Susan lived a life defined by deep love, compassion, and a spirit of adventure. She shared 40 wonderful years with her first husband, the late Stanley Gancas Jr., building a beautiful foundation of family and cherished memories. For the past 24 years, she continued her life's journey alongside her beloved husband, Richard Gancas, enjoying everyday joys and trips to the casino.
She had a profound love for animals and dedicated countless hours to working with a local kitten rescue. Her gentle spirit, patience, and tireless efforts helped give a second chance to so many cats and kittens in need—a legacy of kindness that will long be remembered by the rescue community.
When she wasn't fostering or caring for animals, Susan loved to experience new places with her children. Yet, of all her adventures and passions, her absolute greatest joy was her family. Whether it was spending time at the soccer field with her kids when they were younger, or cherishing moments with her grandchildren later in life, Susan filled their lives with love, laughter, and beautiful memories that they will carry with them always.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Richard Gancas; her children, Stanley Gancas, Gary Gancas (Nina Gancas), Randy Gancas (Eric Young), Jeff Gancas (Darby Gancas), and Debbie Hernandez (Steve Hernandez); and her cherished grandchildren, Melissa Silva, Shane Gancas, Angela Gancas, Ashley Streator, Jordan Gancas, Dane Gancas, and Josh Gancas. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Gancas Jr., and her dearly missed grandsons, Nathan Streator, Tyler Gancas, and Steven Gancas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Itty Bitty Bottle Babies (https://ittybittybottlebabies.com/) in Susan’s honor, ensuring her vital work with animals continues.
