Gilbert L. D'Haeseleer, age 88, of Orlando, FL passed away on April 25, 2024. Born in Aalst Belgium in 1936, he emigrated to Detroit, Michigan as a young boy. While growing up in Detroit, he enjoyed days playing with friends at Belle Isle, and helping his father at their family bakery. During this time, he developed a love for the Detroit Tigers and Lions that he carried with him throughout his life. After spending most of his childhood in Detroit, his family moved to Hollywood, Florida where he attended Central Catholic High School. In high school, he excelled at most sports, but his love was always baseball. Following high school, he attended the University of Florida where he became an avid fan of the Gators which brought him much joy and sorrow throughout his life. In his working life, he enjoyed many successful years as an interior decorating craftsman, where his reputation was well respected in Tallahassee and Orlando. Always kind, he had a knack for warmly connecting with people. In his later years of life, the people of Benton House considered him their daily source of inspiration. He was a kind man, that will be missed by many.
