Martin Joseph Sullivan

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Marty Sullivan. He was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Marty left us peacefully on July 20, 2025 at the age of 68.

Martin (Marty) Joseph Sullivan of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 20. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Donald E. Sullivan and Christine R. Sullivan in 1957. Marty graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1975 and attended St. Agnes Catholic School in his younger years. He relocated to Florida in the mid 80’s where he eventually found and married his wife Oristela in 1997. They were happily married and spent many years in the Naples, Florida area before finally moving to Winter Haven. Oris passed in January 2021. Marty worked a variety of jobs in his lifetime that focused primarily in either automotive or retail/customer service. He was always described as a kind and gentle soul and was known for his “tell it like it is” candor. His two favorite pastimes involved anything automotive and music, especially songs from his collections “Ladies of the ‘80’s”.

He is survived by one sister, Patricia Sullivan Hoff (David J. Hoff) of Brookfield, WI; nephews Jonathan M. Janulis, Elmhurst, IL; and Mitchell D. Hoff, Brookfield WI; nieces Lauren C. Warn (Bernard Warn), Erie, CO; Simone C. Hoff, Boulder, CO; Monique E. Hoff, Brookfield, WI, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

He is predeceased by his wife Oristela Margarita Sullivan; both of his parents; his brothers Donald T. and Kenneth J. and his sister Darlene L. Janulis.

Funeral services and burial will be private in Casselberry, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marty’s name may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
