Amanda Sue Giesen (Meidal) 43, of Castle Rock Colorado, passed away on Monday, January 30th, 2023. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 25th, 1979. At the age of 12, Amanda started showing dogs. She became a trainer and a groomer for show dogs and eventually a professional handler. She also received her GED. She was a member of the Plum Creek Kennel Club and helped with Douglas County 4H. She attended Belray Veterinary school and trained to be a vet tech but left to pursue other interests.
She had many interests including an appreciation for all animals. Her hobbies were extensive but included making stickers, disc jockeying, writing poetry and helping other people through social media.
She is survived by her parents Dennis and Beverly Meidal, her older brother Brian, her eldest brother Rob, his wife Lori and their children, Karissa and Cameron. She also has a large extended family. And of course, her adoring pet duck, Pancake.
She was a loving person with a quirky sense of humor. She was always happy to help a fellow animal lover. She will remain in our hearts forever until we meet again in Heaven.
Her love of animals began with her first pet, a goldfish that she won at her brother’s boyscouting event. Throughout her life she rescued and trained numerous animals, more than we can name, but here are a few of the most memorable. Dogs- Alaskan Malamutes Kelawna, Polarus, Isis, Chinook, Sirus, and Ryan- Australian Shepherd Mitzy and Butters- Afghan Hounds Tommy, Panther, Andy, Angie, Jigger – Pit Bulls Chaos, Annie and Ruger. Cats Thomas, Zack, Pasha and Fatty. And 2 Cockatoos, finches, hamsters, bunnies, mice, rats, a furless rat – Mr. Skins, quinea pigs, a Blue Jay, and a rooster to name a few.
