Ann Yvonne Castillo joined her “Joe,” Joseph Albert Castillo, in the eternal rest of Jesus Christ at 10:35 pm MST on December 26, 2024, when she passed peacefully into the arms of her dear someone. Ann was the youngest daughter of Thomas Lavar and Juliette Houghton. She was born in Nephi, Utah on September 6, 1938.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph "Joe" Castillo, her father, Thomas Lavar Houghton, her mother Juliette Sperry Houghton, her sisters Betty Pickering and Jean Miltenberger and her brothers William Lavar Houghton and Dick Houghton.
She is survived by her sons, Cristopher Joseph Castillo (Sheila), Craig Thomas Castillo, Jeffrey Scott Castillo, and daughters Leigh Ann Castillo (Jeff) and Lara Jane Miller (Daniel). She was proud of her twenty grandchildren and the growing number of great grandchildren.
Mom was a Bingham Miner through and through. She graduated from Bingham High School in 1956, and briefly attended Brigham Young University. She sang in the choir and played piano. After she married Joe, they moved to Sacramento, CA. She soon became a mother of three little boys. She was a doting mom, made many good friends and her life was busy. Joe and Ann moved back to Midvale, Utah in 1963, and then to Cedar City and back again. A few years later, two little girls were born – one in Rose Park and the other in Midvale. The family of seven was now intact. Ann worked as a dental assistant while Joe attended college. Later, she worked in the health insurance field where she served as a corporate executive in Salt Lake City, UT, Colorado Springs, CO and Rio Rancho, NM. Her final five years and resting days were spent in Castle Rock, CO where she lived with Cris and Sheila.
First and foremost, Ann loved and adored her family. She loved celebrations, family gatherings, and would break into song or dance whenever she saw fit. She loved crossword puzzles saying they kept her mind curious, and she never wanted to stop learning. She deeply missed Joe and was waiting for the day to be able to see the love of her life again.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Nicole Luna of Abode Hospice. Celebration services will be help at The Connection Church of the Nazarene, 1300 Park St, Castle Rock CO 80109 at 1:00 pm on January 11, 2024.
