I will always miss her and I know she is in heaven  looking down on me. She would always help others in need even when she had gone through hard times too, God bless Barbra.

Barbra Lewis was a great grandmother to me, she would always be with me through hard times or when I was sad. She’d help me with things I didn’t understand even when I never knew English when I first got to the United States. It’s been out 4 and a half years without her, she’s made my life a blessing. 

So many fine memories of Barb!  She was a loving and generous person.  Her passion for Jesus extended to humanity.  

Jason, Danny, and Gus like to talk about when she took them to Elitch's for their first time - ever!  She had promised them that if they got the tickets through the Denver Public Library's Summer of Reading program that she would take them and she did.  They had a blast the entire time with her.  She was fun, funny, generous, and she was brave...she even forgot about her phone for one of the wet rides and laughed about it.  The phone survived and so did they.  

She also took Jason, Danny, Gus, Joe, and Beth to a fun park event one day.  They loved the time with her.  She was great with the kids and all of us!  She always had ways to show that she cared and had an abundance of energy.  

Bill and I enjoyed when she was part of our Bible study at church, and our kids loved her as their teacher.   She was such a wonderful advocate for many.   An honor to have worked with her! We trusted her, because she was trustworthy.   She was a good "mother" to so many.  

She knew when to take things seriously and she knew when not to take things seriously.  We all could see that she lived Jesus every moment and every breath.  

....Still hard to believe that she is living in the best place there ever could be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Her life and her smile that radiated her hope in Jesus will forever impact us.  There seems to be so few that will leave such a legacy of love because of Jesus.  We thank God that Barb was such and her family, too!  

We continue to pray for the Lewis family, extended family and friends... We are sorry for your great loss, even though we know you rejoice for her.  We know that everyone misses sharing life with Barb, who seemed to have time for all of us to talk about life and the Giver of Life.  What a sweet blessing!  Thank you, Jesus, for Barb!  Thank you, Pastor John, family, and friends!  We love you!  



So much to say...So many fun memories of Barb. I miss her but I know she’s in heaven taking care of all the kids who haven’t been reunited with their parents yet. I can see her dancing and praising our King Jesus! Thank you so much to the Lewis family for always being so gracious. We love you guys and pray the God of all comfort brings you nothing but Joy when you need it most.  

I’m blessed to have shared a small part of Barb’s life. I'll forever remember our church/Ignite days as they were such a treasure along with everyone a part of it. Barb and John were gifted in stewarding a space where stories were unraveled and lives were shared. As young adults searching for love, community, ourselves and God, the Lewis' fostered a community where we could share life with one another and experience the grace and love of God. They loved through our messiness and brokenness, and willingly shared their time, resources, energy and hearts with us, allowing us to be ourselves in a community were we weren’t alone.

Barb was fun and full of life, gentle with a strong spirit. She welcomed everyone into her family and freely gave of the love flowing from her heart. She hardly focused on herself and her own comfort, but always looked out to make sure people felt included and taken care of. She could see the best in everyone, their goodness, potential and gifts. She brought people in and loved them as they were, and saw what they could be. She gave us opportunities and the freedom to grow in our callings as individuals and with one another. She believed in others, and proved it with action, giving of her own time, effort and resources to invest in people. I could never say she lived life for herself, but spent herself to build others up. Even looking through my pictures with her, I find she took many of them, caring to create lasting memories and friendships with us and to see our God given beauty as young women.

She was generous with herself, willing to empower and believe in others, fighting and faithful in prayer, quick to act and serve, and to protect and look out for others. She was a great hostess, creating an environment where we as youth could be heard, laugh, connect with others, build life changing relationships, discover who we were created to be and grow towards freedom in Christ. I’m thankful to have so many treasured memories knowing her. 

Barb was such a light in this world.  She was truly a gift to those who knew her.  Her belief in God , love for family, and service for the least was amazing.  Her hope for her children to desire Jesus was paramount.  May we all thank God for Barb and praise HIM  for the place HE prepared for her.  Praying that HE who is able will comfort  those whose hearts are missing her. 



Barb was an amazing and extremely gifted lover of God and people. She had such an amazing talent to make everyone around her feel seen, known, and accepted. It is so rare to come across a person so selfless and full of life. Praying huge blessings over you John, Matt and Bwa, and Melissa. May Holy Sprit overwhelm you with peace and comfort right now and may Barb’s awesome legacy of love continue to bear rich kingdom fruit for many years to come.

Barbara ....my American mother...💞 a woman filled with love joy, faith and compassion. She will always be remembered for her sacrificial, unbiased, unselfish & unconditional love. I was fortunate to walk closely by her side during her last 8 years on this earth . When I first met her, I immediately felt a deep sense of connection with her and a sincere sweet spirit who’s always ready to help. I didn’t know that God will use this woman in such an amazing special way to bless my life and to inspire me to live an unselfish life by putting others first . When someone needed help , she was never too busy to help. She would always lead the way and step up to pray for the ones in need and help them in any way possible . She thought me how to cherish people and embrace them for who they are as well as bring the best out in them . I will never forget her contagious energy and upbeat personality, our long walks & talks and all the adventures and laughter we shared. Even on my sadest days , just seeing her face and being around her would automatically encourage and lift me up because of the sincere & pure love she had in her heart and all the joy that was overflowing through her constantly. She supported and inspired me to pursue education and to always dream big. Because of her and the great work God has done through her in my life, I am where I am today.  Barbara was a very special friend, mother and adventure partner to me and she will be greatly missed. She was my “ home away from home “ and there was not one holiday or special occasion where I wasn’t included and welcomed. “Mi casa es tu casa” 😊 she used to say. I feel deeply honored and blessed to call her my American mother and I’m praying that her life on this earth will inspire many to draw closer to God and to live a life full of purpose for the eternal glory of Jesus. She is now rejoicing in heaven, free of all the pain and that gives me comfort.

To the world who loved Barb,
It has taken me a few days to process this very sad news and I hold all of you close in my heart and prayers.   Barb was the most generous person on the planet.   Along with her wicked sense of humor, her playfulness and her huge capacity to love, she was the friend I needed in those formative years.   I would often come over to the Raines house and stay forever while  Bev, Bill and Brenda would share their comings and goings.  Dan might be around to tease or play a practical joke.   The puzzle on the card table was attended to by everyone who visited while Barb and I would sing at the piano perfecting our harmonies.  I can't believe Betty and Bob let me hang as long as I did,  as Barb and I would make endless batches of No-bake cookies and trash the kitchen.
Every time it snowed, I would ask Barb to talk to her dad about making sure we got a day off school for the weather.  ( Bob was the NKC Superintendent and that was so cool....)  I could go on and on,  as so many of her childhood friends could, but you know how much she was cherished and admired.  Thank you for loving and caring for her through her illness.   I know she is home and happy but boy, will she be missed in a profound way.   

I have never met anyone as loving and caring as Barb. When I met Barb I was in my late teen and just came to the U.S with my family from Thailand refugee camp. She picked me up for bible studies and for church services. She always prayed for me day or night! We spent a lot of time praying in the car.   She was so generous, encouraging and caring! After a few years when life got busy, and we didn’t hang out much, she occasionally texted me long messages filled with love and encouragement and be there for me in every special events ( baby, graduation, setting up my classroom, wedding etc..) . She always had time for me . She came to my work place and brought me lunch many times even after her diagnosed with stage 4. Almost every time she saw me, she had a gift for me. Sometimes I was like what’s the occasion? She was so generous and caring. She spent countless  hours last summer finding me a house, showing me a house , and taking me out for lunch dates. I am eternally grateful. Even when she was so sick, she Still wanted to take care of me instead of the other way around. I learned so many things from her. She taught me to pray and put my trust in the Lord, she taught me to love unconditionally and to serve others with joy. She never stop praying for me and I am so honor to have known and spent so many wonderful years with her. Her last words to me was recently saying how much she loved me, and Barb, I loved you so much too.  I will always miss you and you will be in my heart forever!

From all the way back to Meadowbrook Elementary, Barb was one of the sweetest classmates who grew into one of the most loving and lovely women I know. A most caring and encouraging friend.  She always spoke LIFE and HOPE into my dark and hard places. 

As a kid, I loved spending time at her house. Loved watching her family interact. Loved calling and hearing Betty say "Jesus Loves You," EVERY TIME.

Barb and I carpooled into Kansas City for a bit after college when our jobs were kind of closeby.  That was a hard season for me, and riding to and from work with Barb gave me strength to face the challenges of each day. 

She would come to work carrying armloads of mega-thick #10 envelopes packed with paperwork that she'd worked on at home. I bet she cared more about the people she served than anyone before or since. 

When Bev told me Barb had gone Home, I saw Bob and Betty, reunited with their dear daughter in Glory! All of them healthy and whole.

Well done, good and faithful servant!

Barbara was my 'painting buddy,' as she called us, in Mexico building a house with DTC. She was such a joy to work with, always upbeat. I'm so glad we remained friends. This is just another trip, Barb, and an even greater adventure. Love and total peace.
