Barbara Dennis Riehl
Barbara Dennis Riehl, 92, died unexpectedly on December 7, 2018. She was a resident of Castle Rock, Colorado, since 2006.
Barbara Ann was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Fred W. Brigeman and Barbara Elizabeth Knieriem on February 12, 1926. She married Francis A. Dennis on June 5, 1948 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and was married until his death on November 11, 1978. She later married Elroy G. Riehl on February 14, 1986, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and was married until his death on June 6, 2006.
She was an at home mother to four boys until starting to work for the United States Postal Service from 1966 to 1986. During her marriage to Francis, she lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Denver, Colorado, Seattle Washington, and Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, due to Francis’ career in United States Navy. They retired to Denver, Colorado in 1970. Upon his death, she returned to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to take care of her father until his death in 1984. After marrying Elroy, she continued living in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where they traveled the world and tended their gardens until his death. Upon his death, she returned to Colorado to be with her children.
She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Castle Rock, Colorado. She enjoyed working with her church and the Douglas/Elbert County Task Force. She enjoyed reading and working in her small garden.
She is survived by one brother, Bruce Bridgeman, Port Clinton, Ohio, sons Brant A. Dennis (Kathie), Franktown, Colorado, and David A. Dennis, Castle Rock, Colorado, along with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and two sons, Eric A. Dennis (1/18/55 to 2/08/80) and Gregory A. Dennis (10/12/57 to 9/3/87).
A graveside service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado on Thursday, December 20, 2018, 10 AM, at procession area ‘A’, with Pastor Chris Matthis officiating. This will be followed by a remembrance at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 550 East Wolfensberger Rd, Castle Rock, Colorado, at 11:30 AM.
