Bernald Neal Acker, 90, died June 18, 2026. Born January 10, 1936, Bernald’s life was marked by steadfast devotion to family, diligent work, and a quiet strength that endured through the years. A longtime resident of Castle Rock, Colorado, he made his home there for 55 years, building a life defined by constancy and care.
In his early life, Bernald shared a rare bond as an identical twin; his twin brother preceded him in death. That lifelong connection, and the loss that followed, remained part of the story that shaped him and the way he held close the people he loved.
Bernald dedicated his professional life to work of lasting significance, serving at Lockheed Martin on the Titan Missile program. He approached his career with reliability and purpose, contributing to a demanding field with the steady commitment for which he was known. He retired in 1995, closing a chapter of faithful service and hard-earned accomplishment.
Bernald met Kay in high school, beginning a partnership rooted in enduring affection and shared history. They were married for 70 years, a remarkable testament to loyalty, perseverance, and a love that weathered every season of life.
Bernald is survived by his wife, Kay Acker; his son, Steve Acker (Jeanie); his daughters, Leslie Acker and LeeAnn Bayer (Jeff); four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
