Bob Croissant, 86, of Castle Rock Colorado passed away Saturday March 4th, 2017 at Brookside Inn. Bob was born on March 31, 1930 in Ogallala Nebraska to Harvey George and Mable Irene (Thorpe) Croissant.
Bob was raised in Ogallala where he attended Ogallala High School. Bob excelled in basketball, art, history, and writing. After graduating in 1948 Bob worked for Leonard’s Dairy. Bob was drafted into the Army on July 18th 1951 during the Korean War and trained as a medical tech at Ft. Sam Houston Texas. He was transferred to the Army Reserves on July 4, 1953 and received an honorable discharge at Camp Carson Colorado. Bob received the Korean Service Medal W/2 Bronze Campaign Stars, the Combat Medical Badge and the United Nations Service Medal.
Bob worked for Peacock Cleaners of Ogallala Nebraska after leaving the service. Bob met and married Patty Powers in 1954. They had Steven Lee and Jeanine Marie while living in Ogallala Nebraska. They moved to Boulder Colorado in 1957 where Bob was a deliveryman for Borden’s dairy. They had Elizabeth Ann and Charles Robert before moving to Castle Rock Colorado in 1961. Bob worked for his brother-in-law Len Kercher as a plumber until 1980. He worked for Douglas County Schools until his retirement in 1997. Bob and Pat moved to Kimball Nebraska following retirement. They later moved to Sterling Colorado and eventually Bob moved to Castle Rock to be closer to family.
Bob loved hunting, fishing and horseshoes. He made wonderful kites and helped his children fly them. He also enjoyed wood working, making cedar chests, boxes, doll houses, butterfly houses, bird houses and picture frames. He enjoyed restoring his father’s rocking chair. One of his greatest loves was playing pool. You could find Bob at Rock Bowl in Castle Rock almost every Saturday. He always came home with extra money in his pockets. Bob was very social and really enjoyed being around his family and having coffee with friends at the McDonald’s, Village Inn or Auburn Ridge Apartments in Castle Rock.
Bob is survived by his children, Steve (Lisa) Croissant of Bennett CO; Jeanie (Steve) Acker of Castle Rock CO; Chuck Croissant of Denver CO. Grandchildren Stephanie (Justus) Newman of Castle Rock CO; Jake Acker of Castle Rock CO; Brooke (Tristen) Burnham of Grand Junction CO; Jeremiah (Shana) Southall of Ely NV; Shawn Southall of Reno NV; Heather Croissant of Simi Valley CA; Blake Croissant of Fridley MN; Taylor (James) Haag of Richfield MN; Great grandchildren Emerson Bayless of Castle Rock CO; and Aliyha Southall of Ely NV. Sister Lavon Kercher of Thornton CO. Brothers-in-law, Clay Powers of Oshkosh Nebraska; and Larry (Carol) Powers of Delray Beach FL. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, daughter Elizabeth Southall, and granddaughter Amy Acker. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Mabel Croissant and in-laws Charley and Wilma Powers.
Bob and Pat will be buried at Ft McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell Nebraska.
