Brenda was born in Kimberly, OR on June 2, 1942 to Kitty and Elmer Asher, and her devoted siblings: Elmer Jr., Herb, Frank, and Carolyn. After she graduated from Grant Union High School, she moved to Portland to study at Portland State University.
At PSU is where she met her husband, William H. Clagett IV (Bill). They fell in love, and from retellings to the family, Bill fell first. Bill and Brenda married on November 3rd, 1962. They shared 62 years of steadfast love and loyalty.
Brenda worked as a paralegal for many years, and was lauded at her office for her work ethic and mentoring the “young associates”. Brenda retired from Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher in Denver upon the news that she was going to be a Granny. Family always came first for Brenda.
Brenda loved being a Granny to her granddaughters, and was a fixture at every event. From their earliest rec-league soccer games, dance recitals, programs and award ceremonies to their college graduations. She loved to share her love of knitting, reading, and baking with her grandgirls - she also loved sharing her passion for service, and would invite the girls to meet her when she volunteered at the hospital, and to help orchestrate church coffee hours after the service.
Brenda made friends wherever she went, and it was gratifying to see many friends old and new visit before her passing.
She is preceded in death by her siblings and parents.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her children: William H. Clagett V and Kimberly Clagett Moore; her grandgirls: Alison Kitty Moore and Mateline Elizabeth Moore; her niece, Debbie Asher Thunell; and grandniece and grandnephew, Ashley Thunell and Bo Thunell.
