Bridget Eileen Patricia McGuire Wesierski – a feisty, fiery, fiercely proud first-generation Irish American – died September 20 in Castle Rock, Colorado. She was 91 years young. She is preceded in death by nearly every contemporary, including her husband of 69 years Wally, who died in September 2023. Bridget and Wally’s decades-long physician quipped, “Wally, I kept her alive for two more years so you could rest up in heaven!”
Bridget is survived by her tiny but mighty family – daughter Brenda, son-in-law John, her favorite (only) grandchild Kira, and her partner Jaren – and a boatload of younger friends. To honor Bridget’s memory, please consider one or more of the following:
• Toast friends with a glass of wine, her favorite beverage (preferably white and boxed)
• Go to a garage sale – she both hosted and shopped at them for years
• Buy something on eBay. She was an enthusiastic seller, with nearly 5,700 sales
• Cheer on a sports team – her favorites were the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets
• Try your luck and put a few coins in a slot machine
• Decorate for the holidays – Bridget’s favorites were Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day
• Sign up to be an Elections judge. She did it for so many years that she was crowned Envelope Empress last year
But above all, have fun. She was 83 or older in the photos shared here – proving you’re never too old to have a good time. Bridget, RIL – rest in laughter.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth St., Castle Rock, CO. A luncheon will follow in the church’s Assisi Hall.
