She was born in Long Beach, California on June 25, 1945 to Daniel A. Barnes and Evelyn Mauck Barnes. Cathie graduated from Van Nuys High School and later received her associate degree in accounting. She was married to Milton Raymond “Ray” Hubert on February 8, 1986 in Las Vegas after being set up by their mutual hair stylist. Cathie had a long career with Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation in California in their accounting department. After both she and Ray retired, they relocated to Ft Collins, Colorado to be closer to family.
Cathie was happiest at family gatherings as her family was most important to her. She also enjoyed card making, reading, playing cards, and watching Survivor. Cathie had the opportunity to travel to many amazing places around the world, but her favorite destination was always the beach. Towards the end of her life, her one request was to get “her toes in the sand,” which she was able to do during a memorable trip with her daughter, sisters, nieces, and granddaughters.
She is survived by her children and stepchildren Mindy Benjamin, Shirley Hubert, Jason Hubert; grandchildren Cody Hubert, Aaron Hubert, Marc Magana, Amanda Benjamin, Hannah Benjamin, Justin Hubert, Brandon Hubert, Jayna Hubert and Jadyn Hubert; sisters Glenda Barnes and Betsy Barnes and nieces Jessica Killin, Ashley Underwood, and Chelsea Castaldy, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Cathie and her husband Ray loved the snowfalls of Colorado and enjoyed driving up the Poudre Canyon to take in the Colorado scenery. Cathie’s cremains will be scattered with her beloved Ray and her mother in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
