“The One who never leaves you is the same One who never changes: I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. Herein lies your security, which no one and no circumstances can take from you.”
Psalm 89:15; Hebrews 13:8; Isaiah 41:13
Catherine “Irene” Read was born in Pecos, Texas to Isabelle Walker and Edward Talbert Read. Ms. Read spent her childhood and young adult life in Coffeeville, Kansas. Irene and her identical twin sister, Ilene, were constant companions and shared a loving bond with each other through Irene’s 97 years of life. The Read family was active members of the First Baptist Church of Coffeeville. Irene moved to Denver in 1942 residing with her aunt and uncle, Olla and Charles Fulton. The family was quintessential Denverites of the early 1940’s.
Irene was known to her Denver family as “Auntie Irene”. She worked at the Saddock Chemical Company before retiring in 1981. Our beloved “Auntie Irene” loved to hike in the mountains of Bailey, Colorado at Glenn Isle Resort. She was adored by three generations of children. Her cousin’s children grew up loving her as did their children.
Irene spent the last three years of her life as a resident of Valley House Assisted Living Community. She was a member of Castle Oaks Covenant Church and a blessing to everyone who came to know her. Ms. Read is survived by her twin sister, Ilene Holland and her three children: Edward Holland, Read (Dianna) Holland and Margaret (Dane) Coberly, great nephews Jimmy (Nora) Holland and Jason (Melissa) Coberly. Her Denver cousins; Ginny Fulton and her children: Terree (Jim) Warren, Sherree (Arnie) Cordova, Barry (Jenny) Fulton, Dora Ligget and her children: Sue Ellen (Thad) Englert, Bill (Nancy) Ligget, Celine Ligget-Hinnegan, Charlyn Boord and her children: Kelly (Cherie) Boord, Holly (Bob) Wright.
